HOW YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE WORKING

(THAT IS, AGAINST YOU!)

In case you haven’t noticed, since the advent of state mandatory seat belt harness laws in 1985, your federal tax dollars have been working overtime, literally, in support of such laws.

First: The federal government gives federal tax grants (bribes) to states to enforce the state’s seat belt law, which make state politicians very happy.

Second: Such tax grants (bribes) are used by the police for lucrative overtime pay to enforce the state’s seat belt law, which makes the police very happy over a sudden easy jump in their take-home pay, which certainly beats going after criminals.

Third: With such lucrative overtime time pay in the pockets of the police, that helps to relieve local pressure for a pay raise for the police, which makes local politicians very happy.

Fourth: With an increase in seat belt law enforcement, there is a sudden increase in seat belt law ticket income for state coffers, especially from random roadblocks, which makes both state and local politicians very happy since they all share in the "loot" from legally fleecing the motoring public.

It seems state mandatory seat belt harness laws certainly make a great many people very happy, that is, inside government. However, such happiness is at the expense of making a great many people in the private sector very unhappy over the police stopping (i.e. seizing—Bill of Rights) a person’s personally own vehicle for not using a device arbitrarily chosen by politicians, and for losing valuable heavily taxed personal income for violating a victimless state created crime that does not hurt, nor is a threat to anyone.

It certainly is amazing how those in government can easily create the ways and means to make themselves very happy!
